If you need more intensive care to repair damage caused by gum disease, you may benefit from osseous surgery in Mountain View, California.
What Is Osseous Surgery?
Osseous surgery is a periodontal treatment used to reduce tissue pockets in the gums caused by periodontal disease. It is usually only offered if other treatments and deep cleanings have not been successful in removing harmful bacteria from the soft tissues of the mouth and healing the tissue pockets.
What To Expect
During this treatment, your mouth will be numbed, and you may be given a sedation option to keep you comfortable. Once prepared, our dentists will gently lift the gum tissues from the bone of your teeth and thoroughly clean the surface of your teeth roots. If the roots have experienced deformation due to periodontal disease, their bone structure will be smoothed down to promote better healing and recovery. Once complete, the gum tissue will be placed back over the tooth roots. Our team may also recommend a bone graft or tissue regeneration during this process to help restore your mouth.
